See George Monbiot in Toronto

I’ve said it before: George Monbiot is a hero of mine.  He’s a great journalist, who sweats the details, takes on the deniers and who’s not afraid of confrontation.  I’m thrilled that Greenpeace is co-presenting his talk in Toronto this Saturday, and look forward to hearing his take on who in Canada is killing the international climate treaty.

I notice George Monbiot wrote about military jets being the cause of a lot of the pollution and the necessity for reducing armed forces to peace keeping missions.

It has a person wonder if he has in mind a petition to change U.K. Forces to United Nations disbanding N.A.T.O. which should be gone with The Cold War and if asking citizens to join the U.N. apply The U.N. Charter to England and North America Perhaps he means that no country is above the U.N. Charter of human rights and donations plus requests to join could be made. Perhaps

Is there a webcast of his talk? So that those of us outside Toronto can see the event without travelling there?

Monbiot’s talk was captivating and deeply inspiring. He offered critical insight into the Canadian condition of politely allowing our government to wrongly represent us by acting in such favour of the oil sands, reminding the audience that “oil changes a nation.”

There was a crew filming so I’m sure the talk will be uploaded online soon.
