Wear Your Free KYOTOplus Climate Defender Shirt with Pride!

Hundreds of Canadians have signed up to be Climate Defenders, working on getting KYOTOplus Petitions signed, sending letters to their MPs, and raising funds.  As a huge thank you, we’re going to send one of these gorgeous American Apparel Climate Defender T-shirts to every Defender who gathers over 50 petitions (while supplies last).  What’s more, we’re also giving the next three Defenders who get over 100 petitions signed and raise $50.00 a $20 gift card to Mountain Equipment Co-op!

Take action for our future, and sign up to be a Climate Defender!

What is KYOTOplus?
In Canada, our campaign to channel the voices of individuals concerned about climate change is called KYOTOplus, and it’s designed around a United Nations climate change meeting taking place this December in Copenhagen, Denmark.  At this meeting, world leaders will negotiate the next phase of the Kyoto Protocol on climate change, the only existing binding international agreement on greenhouse gas emissions.  The goal of KYOTOplus is to send Canadian delegates to Copenhagen with one strong, clear message: Canadian residents want meaningful action on climate change.

Would like to sign the KYOTOplus Petitions but I could find them. Please send them to my address and I will pass them on.
    Thank you.

The petitions can be located here:

I find university students to be very receptive to the campaign. A clipboard and a pen is all that’s required.

    As for what to say,

“Would you like to offer your signature of support for the environment?”

“It’s very important because the United Nations is having a conference in Denmark this December and we want the Canadian Government to put more of a priority on the environment. The way we are living is simply unsustainable.”

“So we could really use your voice!”

Further explain if they ask questions. Be empathetic and listen to their comments.

Also, approaching a group rather then just one person will help to double your signatures! :)
